Best AI visibility tools

The best AI visibility tools track how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers talk about your brand. Here are 12 of them, grouped by who each one fits, with the engines, prompt limits and price each tool lists on its own site.

Last updated October 2026 · Published by Agniverse GEO

Published by Agniverse GEO, the AI search lab from Agniverse. We do GEO work for app makers. We do not sell a visibility tool and have no stake in any tool here. We rank by use case, every price comes from the tool's own pricing page, and anything we could not verify is left out.

Short answer

There is no single best AI visibility tool. Pick by team and budget. Profound for enterprise, Peec AI for a self-serve team, Otterly.AI under $30 a month, and HubSpot's free grader if you have never checked. All of them measure where you show up in AI answers. None of them earns the mention for you.

What an AI visibility tool does, and what it does not

Every AI visibility tool on this list works the same way underneath. The differences are in how many prompts, which engines, how often, and what it lets you do with the result. Know these four things before you compare prices.

It runs your prompts

You give it the questions your buyers type, like 'best budgeting app for couples'. It asks them on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google's AI Overviews and others, daily or weekly, and keeps every answer.

It counts mentions and citations

From those answers it reports how often you are named, where in the answer, in what tone, and which sites the engine cited. The cited sites are the most useful part. They show you which pages shape the answer in your category.

It needs volume to mean anything

Ask an AI engine the same question three times and you can get three different lists. One run is an anecdote. That is why prompt count, engine count and run frequency matter more than how the dashboard looks.

It does not do the work

A tracker tells you where you stand. It does not move you. Some now draft pages or suggest fixes, but a person still has to decide, publish, correct facts on other sites and earn mentions. That is your team or an agency.

How to choose an AI visibility tool

Start with the engines your buyers use and the number of questions that really decide your category. If you have never checked, start with HubSpot's free grader. It needs no account. If you need a dashboard on a small budget, Otterly.AI at $29 or AthenaHQ's free plan will tell you whether you appear at all. A marketing team that wants clean self-serve plans should look at Peec AI. An enterprise team with procurement and SSO needs will end up talking to Profound. Agencies should price Rankscale and Peec's agency plans side by side. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, try their AI add-ons before you buy another login. Then be honest about the second half of the job. Every tool here measures. The ones that draft content still need someone to approve it, publish it and do the work off your own site.

What to check before you pick an AI visibility tool

  • Which engines are in the base plan, and which cost extra. Perplexity, Claude and Gemini are add-ons on several tools.
  • How many prompts you get, how often they run, and whether you can write your own. Some trials use a fixed prompt set.
  • Whether it bills in prompts or credits. Credits are flexible but make the monthly bill harder to predict.
  • Whether it shows the sources each answer cited, not only whether you were mentioned.
  • The real price for your setup, including currency and annual-only rates. Several tools localize prices.
  • Who will act on the data. A tracker with no one acting on it is a monthly report you will stop opening.

Four AI visibility tools to start with

One for each common starting point: an enterprise team, a self-serve marketing team, a small budget, and a free first look.

The wider field

A free plan that keeps running, a credit-based tool for agencies, a tracker that reshapes what AI agents read, a commerce specialist, the two big SEO suites, and two tools that write articles as well as track. Weighing the two best-known names? See Profound vs Peec AI, the Profound alternatives and the Peec AI alternatives.

AthenaHQ

Measures + drafts

Best for: A free plan that keeps tracking, with room to grow to 11 models

AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free and keeps running. It comes with 300 credits, one credit per AI response, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. Starter at $295 a month gives 3,600 credits and 11 models, adding Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Mistral and AI Mode, plus a content optimization agent and on-page and off-page actions. Its own page labels Starter for self-guided SMBs and Enterprise for enterprises and agencies.

Rankscale

Measures + suggests

Best for: Agencies tracking many brands on one bill

Rankscale bills in credits, not prompts. Search terms are unlimited, and each engine query uses a fraction of a credit, typically 0.25 according to its pricing page. Pro at $99 a month covers up to 4,800 answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot and Google's AI Mode and Overviews, with 10 brand dashboards. Growth at $385 is the plan it aims at agencies, with 50 dashboards and white-label options. Unused credits roll over.

Scrunch

Measures + drafts

Best for: Brands that want to change what AI agents read on their site

On its $250 Core plan Scrunch is a standard tracker. 125 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with citations, sentiment and AI bot traffic, five site audits and one page optimization a month. The different part is its Agent Experience Platform (AXP) and Agent Pages, which Scrunch says deliver 'an optimized experience to AI agents.' That is on Enterprise. Scrunch says 500+ brands and agencies use it.

Goodie

Measures + drafts

Best for: Ecommerce brands that care about AI shopping answers

Goodie leans into commerce. Pro at $999 a month adds SKU-level agentic commerce visibility on top of brand tracking, and Pro's engine list includes Alexa and Amazon's Sparky. Core at $399 tracks 120 prompts on five engines, with five seats, AEO strategist support and 50 optimization actions a month from agents that write and optimize content. Agencies get their own plan from $275 a month, billed quarterly or annually.

If your team already pays for Semrush, this puts AI answers next to your rankings. The toolkit tracks 25 custom prompts daily across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity for one domain, with AI competitor analysis, prompt research and a site audit for AI readiness. Semrush lists it at $99 a month per domain.

Heads-up25 prompts on one domain. A good add-on, light as your only tracker.

Best for: Ahrefs users, and market-wide data without writing prompts

Brand Radar works two ways. Custom Prompts tracks the questions you write, daily, from $50 a month, and paid Ahrefs plans already include 5 to 20 of them. The AI Visibility Index at $199 a month skips setup and shows any brand's visibility across what Ahrefs reports as 448M prompts, on AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. It measures and makes no claim to do more.

Writesonic

Measures + drafts

Best for: Small teams that want tracking and AI-written articles in one tool

Writesonic started as an AI writer and now tracks AI search as well. Starter at $79 a month, billed annually, tracks 50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and includes 15 AI articles and 10 site audits a month. Its Action Center, for on-page and off-page fixes, is a small trial on Growth and full only on Enterprise. Free trial, no card.

Gauge

Measures + drafts

Best for: Growth-stage brands that want prompt volume and articles on one bill

Gauge sells one self-serve plan, and it is big. Growth at $599 a month runs 600 prompts every day across six platforms, 108,000 answers a month, which Gauge works out to about half a cent per answer. It also writes 18 publish-ready articles a month and can publish them to Webflow, Framer, Sanity or GitHub. Claude and Grok tracking works on any plan if you connect your own API key and pay the provider.

AI visibility terms, in plain English

AI visibility
How often, and how well, AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews name or cite your brand when people ask about your category.
GEO and AEO
Generative engine optimization and answer engine optimization. Two names for the same job, getting your brand named and cited in AI answers. Google's own guidance treats both as part of SEO.
Prompt
One question the tool asks the engines on your behalf, like 'best meal planning app'. Your prompt set is the list of buyer questions you track.
Citation
A source link an AI answer shows. Tracking citations tells you which pages the engines lean on in your category, yours or someone else's.
Share of voice
Your share of brand mentions across the tracked answers, compared with competitors.
Credits
A usage unit some tools bill in instead of prompts. One credit might buy one AI answer (AthenaHQ) or several engine queries (Rankscale). Check the conversion before comparing prices.

How this list is built

We started from 16 tools and re-read each one's own pricing page on October 1, 2026, with a headless browser where prices load with JavaScript. Every price on this page is as listed in October 2026, in the currency the page showed us. Peec AI bills in euros, so its prices are shown in dollars converted at the ECB rate on October 1, 2026 (1 EUR = 1.1298 USD), with the euro price in brackets. Semrush lists its toolkit at $99 a month. We left out anything we could not confirm on the tool's own site. That ruled out Knowatoa (its pricing page does not state prompt limits), Am I On AI (two engines only), and Bluefish and Evertune (demo only, no public pricing). We also ignored price claims one vendor makes about another. One competitor's comparison page still quotes Profound tiers that Profound's own pricing page no longer lists. Tools are grouped by the use case they fit, not ranked one to twelve. Prices change often, so check the tool's page before you buy.

A note on who publishes this. Agniverse GEO is a service, not software. For that work we run our own tracker: 50 buyer prompts on ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, three samples each, every two weeks. That is how we know what these dashboards show and where they stop. Our tracker is part of the service, not a product on this list. We also have an angle you should weigh. We sell the work, so we lean toward saying tools only measure. We kept that to what each vendor says about its own product. No tool paid to be here and none of the links are affiliate links.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI visibility tool?
It depends on your team. For enterprise brands, Profound, which is sales-led with custom pricing. For a self-serve marketing team, Peec AI, with plans from $96 (EUR 85) a month. For the smallest budget, Otterly.AI at $29 a month. For a free one-time check, HubSpot's AI Search Grader. For agencies, Rankscale. For ecommerce, Goodie. If you already use Semrush or Ahrefs, start with their AI add-ons.
What does an AI visibility tool do?
It asks AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews a fixed set of questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records whether your brand is named, where, in what tone, and which sites were cited. Over time that shows your share of mentions against competitors and which pages shape the answers in your category.
How much do AI visibility tools cost?
Prices as listed in October 2026, from each tool's own pricing page: Otterly.AI from $29 a month, Ahrefs Brand Radar Custom Prompts from $50, HubSpot AEO $50, Writesonic from $79 billed annually, Peec AI from $96 (EUR 85), Rankscale Pro $99, Scrunch $250, AthenaHQ Starter $295, Goodie $399 and Gauge $599. Profound lists only a free trial and custom Enterprise pricing. AthenaHQ has a free plan and HubSpot's grader is free.
Is there a free AI visibility tool?
Yes, with limits. HubSpot's AI Search Grader is free, needs no account and gives a one-time score based on what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini say about you. AthenaHQ's Essential plan is free with 300 credits, one per AI answer. Profound offers a free 7-day trial, and most paid tools have a trial. None of the free options gives you enough answers to see a reliable trend.
Which AI engines do these tools track?
Almost all track ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Most add Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, and some add Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Mistral. Base plans often cap engines. Peec AI lets you pick three, Otterly.AI charges extra for Claude, AI Mode and Gemini, and Writesonic's self-serve plans cover three. Check the base plan, not the Enterprise list.
Will an AI visibility tool get my brand recommended by ChatGPT?
No. A tracker measures where you stand. Some tools now draft content or suggest fixes, but a person still has to decide what to change, publish it, correct facts on other sites and earn mentions from sources the engines cite. The tool shows the gap. Your team or an agency closes it.
How many prompts should I track?
Enough to cover the questions that decide your category, run more than once. AI answers vary from run to run, so a handful of prompts checked once gives you noise. As a reference point, our own tracker runs 50 buyer prompts on four engines with three samples each. Entry plans here range from 15 prompts (Otterly.AI Lite) to 600 a day (Gauge).
Should I use Semrush or Ahrefs for AI visibility, or a dedicated tool?
If your SEO team already lives in Semrush or Ahrefs, try their add-ons first. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit tracks 25 prompts on one domain, and Ahrefs includes 5 to 20 free prompts in paid plans plus an index it says covers 448M prompts. Dedicated tools like Peec AI, Profound or Otterly.AI go deeper on prompt counts, engines, citations and AI bot traffic. Many teams start with the add-on and move when they hit its limits.

A tracker shows the gap. Someone has to close it.

If you make an app and want the AI search work done rather than another dashboard, Agniverse GEO is our AI search lab. We track real buyer prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, then work on the pages and sources the answers come from. Clients join by application.

Published by Agniverse GEO, the AI search lab from Agniverse. We do the work of AI search as a service and sell no tracking tool, so this is a neutral read. Facts checked against each tool's own site as of October 2026. Found something out of date? Tell us and we will fix it.
